Guns are the symbol of war. They are one of the creations of the humans which whenever they are being used, they always destroy something. Guns never create life, take kill life. This is so obvious but yet we - humans - don't see it. We send the soldiers with the guns to war and they are supposed to bring the peace. And I ask the question: how can something that destroys life, create life ? How can gun which kills and destroys, create peace ?
Of course if someone takes the gun and kills a person, then somebody else will eventually take a bigger gun and kill the one who started the killing first. And in this situation the last person who kills the first killer is called the peacekeeper and the hero. But can we call it "peace" ? Sooner or later there will be somebody else who will take the gun and go on the killing spree. And this will go on and on and on. And we have the examples of it in the history of humanity. There have been wars for thousands of years but we still don't have peace. Everyday there is somewhere a war. Every day there is somebody being killed with the gun. Guns are always destroying and killing life. But yet we don't see it. We still admire war heroes, we still send the army with guns to bring the peace in other countries and we still spend trillions of dollars on weapons.
When do we finally wake up and realise that war will never bring on the peace that is permanent. Gun is like a painkiller. It treats the symptoms but it doesn't address the cause of the pain. One of the main reasons for war is lack of money and greed. Thus to treat the cause, we would have to address these issues. And theoretically this is not as difficult as it may seem to be at first. Just look at the picture above. If we would have to take away all the money that goes in the budget into warfare and spend on education, health care, homes and help for poor people and then we would have immediate and drastic drop in the rate of crimes, violence etc. But this is the theory. And the practice is different. Those who are in governments and in power don't even want to listen to this simple yet effective solution. The problem is that they have enormous fear within them and they believe that they need to produce more guns to protect them. And this is our reality. We are producing more and ever more sophisticated guns. Thus there should be no surprise that we have more wars, killing and violence.
I forgive myself that I have not allowed myself to realise that war will never bring peace that is permanent.
I forgive myself that I have not allowed myself to realise that every time the gun discharges the bullet it creates destruction and killing life and thus it is impossible to create peace with something that destroys life.
I forgive myself that I have not allowed myself to realise that symbolism of the gun is exactly the same to the symbolism of painkiller. They are both treating the symptoms but they never address the cause of the pain and the war. And thus to stop the war and killing I have to address the cause.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed the existence of governments that spend billions of dollars in guns and warfare instead of spending money on creating peace and life.
I forgive myself that I have not allowed myself to realise that the increasing number of crimes, wars and violence is a consequence of producing ever more guns.
